Cooking at the Farm: Canning Basics

Have you ever wanted to preserve the bounty from your garden for the winter months? When you know how to can your own produce, you can savor summer tomatoes all year long, make you own jams and jellies, or create your own recipe for cucumber pickles. There's applesauce, dilly beans, gardiniera, homemade sweet 'n sour sauce, sweet pickled beets, hot sauce, pickled carrots, asparagus, peaches.... the possibilities are endless! In this class we'll cover what you need to do this at home, safety tips, how to sterilize your equipment, how to use a water bath method, how to be confident with a pressure canner, and more. Participants will bring home a jar of sauce that we'll make in the class, along with additional recipes and resources.
